Venom

Inspired by Marvel's Venom, I made this for our school's pumpkin decorating competition for the art department. I wanted to transform an ordinary pumpkin into a dramatic, three-dimensional character bursting with personality! I used real pumpkins for the head and body, adding a sculpted lower jaw, individually handmade teeth, a curling tongue, and twisting black tendrils. The sculpture combines traditional pumpkin decorating with mixed-media sculpting, painting, and glossy finishing techniques to capture Venom's menacing expression. Polymer clay and foil and acrylic paint and were most of what was used, though the teeth I 3-D printed and tounge. Lastly, a generous coat of resin was painted over all of it.
