Classic Pumpkin Stencils

Classic pumpkin stencils are the jack-o'-lantern faces everyone recognises: triangle eyes, a triangle nose, and a toothy grin. They are the fastest designs in the library, and the shapes throw a lot of light.

How to carve a classic pumpkin stencil

Cut the nose first, then the eyes, then the mouth, so the biggest opening comes last. Straight-edged triangles are easiest with a saw held vertical. For the toothy grin, cut the mouth as one shape and leave a couple of square teeth uncut, hanging from the top lip and standing from the bottom.

Classic faces look right anywhere: the step, the window, the office desk. A row of them in different expressions is the traditional porch.
