How to carve a scared pumpkin stencil
Cut the eyes as large round openings with a small uncut pupil in each, attached at the top, so the eyes look wide and staring. The mouth is a tall oval; cut it last. Brows are thin arcs high on the forehead, cut with a knife. A few scraped lines beside the mouth suggest a wobbling chin.
A scared pumpkin cowering beside a monster pumpkin tells a little story on the step. It is one of the best pairings in the library.
Questions
Scared stencil questions
How do I make the eyes look wide and scared?+
Cut big round openings and leave a small round pupil uncut in each, hanging from the top edge. Small pupils in big glowing eyes read as fear.
Are scared face stencils easy?+
Yes. Two round eyes, two brow arcs, and one oval mouth. Most are Easy and take about 30 minutes.
How long do scared pumpkin stencils take to carve?+
Check the individual stencil's carving guide for its time estimate. Preparation, pumpkin size, wall thickness and your experience affect the total; difficulty alone does not determine carving time.
