Skeleton Pumpkin Stencils

Skeleton pumpkin stencils show full bone figures, dancing skeletons, skeletal hands, and grinning skulls on ribcages. The gaps between bones let plenty of light through, so a skeleton glows brighter than most designs of the same size.

How to carve a skeleton pumpkin stencil

Bones are uncut strips and the gaps between them are the openings. Cut the gaps small first, ribs before limbs, and keep each bone at least a quarter inch wide. A dancing skeleton has thin arms and legs, so cut the openings around them in short sections and never on both sides of a limb at once.

A dancing skeleton pumpkin next to a skeleton prop makes a duo. Skeletal hands on smaller pumpkins scattered along the walk look like a graveyard waking up.

Questions

Skeleton stencil questions

How do I keep the thin bones from breaking?+

Keep every bone at least a quarter inch wide, cut the gaps between ribs before the gaps around arms and legs, and support each limb from inside with a finger while you cut beside it.

Are skeleton stencils harder than skull stencils?+

Full skeletons are Medium to Hard because of the many thin bones. A skull alone is easier. The skeletal hand is a good middle option.

How long do skeleton pumpkin stencils take to carve?+

Check the individual stencil's carving guide for its time estimate. Preparation, pumpkin size, wall thickness and your experience affect the total; difficulty alone does not determine carving time.

Which skeleton pumpkin stencils are the easiest?+

2 of the 20 are easy, 4 of the 20 are intermediate, 8 of the 20 are hard, 6 of the 20 are expert. Compare the difficulty labels and carving guides to choose a design.

Pick a skeleton design, print it, and light up the porch.
