This free Evil Scarecrow pumpkin stencil is a printable PDF pattern you can print at home, tape to your pumpkin, and trace. An oversized evil face fills this scarecrow pumpkin stencil, with heavily arched crescent brows slanting inward over deep-set crescent eyes, a small heart-shaped nose cutout, and a wide grinning mouth lined with dozens of sharp, evenly spaced spike teeth. All facial features are pierced through; the pumpkin skin between them forms the cheeks, brow ridge, and lip edges. Begin with the eyebrow slashes, then the eyes, saving the spike-tooth mouth for last because those narrow points snap easily if the wall has already been weakened. Use it as a carving template for your Halloween jack-o'-lantern. It is rated Advanced. Actual time varies with preparation, pumpkin size and experience. Fine details and narrow supports need careful planning. Follow the cutting and shading key in this designβs PDF.

Frequently asked questions
Can I resize this stencil?βΎ
Yes. The PDF is vector so it scales cleanly. Print the pattern at 100% for a 7 to 10 inch pumpkin, 130% for 11 to 13 inch, or 150% for a giant. Use your printer's "Fit to page" or "Custom scale" setting.
What kind of paper works best?βΎ
Standard 20 lb letter or A4 printer paper is fine. Heavier paper is harder to bend around the pumpkin curve. If your printer supports it, set the quality to 'best' so the lines are crisp.
How long will the carved pumpkin last?βΎ
Usually 5 to 10 days. Coat all cut surfaces with petroleum jelly and store the pumpkin somewhere cool overnight. Avoid direct sun. Battery LED pumpkin lights produce no heat and help it last longer.
Can I sell pumpkins carved with this stencil?βΎ
Yes, the carved pumpkin you make is yours. The license covers personal and small-scale commercial carving (selling carved pumpkins, photographing them, posting on social). You may not resell the PDF file itself.
What if my printer doesn't print the whole stencil?βΎ
Set 'Page scaling' to 'Fit' in the print dialog and uncheck 'Auto-rotate'. If it still cuts off, the design includes 0.25" of safe-area margin so a small crop won't ruin it.
How to carve this stencil
- Transfer the full stencil with a pin tool, taking care to mark each individual spike tip along the mouth.
- Carve the two arched eyebrow shapes first while the wall is fully supported.
- Cut the crescent eye openings next, following each curved edge in one smooth pass.
- Remove the small heart nose with a narrow-tipped blade.
- Begin the mouth by cutting the outer arc of the smile, then remove each inter-spike gap from widest to narrowest point without rushing the tips.
- Backlight with a candle at medium height so the spike teeth cast long downward shadows on the pumpkin's chin.
Tools you'll need

AdvancedGrimacing Scarecrow Pumpkin Stencil
A simple, cartoonish scarecrow stands with arms outstretched on this hard pumpkin stencil, wearing a wide-brimmed hat and showing a squiggly grimace for a mouth. The body and hat are solid pumpkin flesh while gaps between the outstretched arms, the ragged tunic slashes, and the stick post below are all cut through. The thin neck post connecting the head to the body is the most fragile element; complete all arm and tunic cuts before touching the area around that connector to keep the head from separating prematurely.
AdvancedScarecrow Pumpkin Stencil
A friendly scarecrow stands arms-out in classic T-pose: a brimmed hat with a small torn-corner flap, a round face with X eyes and a stitched-line smile, a necktie, straw tufts poking from the sleeves and hem, and a central post below the body. The design uses a mix of open cuts for the background spaces and solid orange bridges that form the straw strands, clothing triangles, and facial features. When lit, the scarecrow appears as a warm silhouette with the straw tufts back-lit individually. Cut the small X-eye shapes and the stitched smile first, as these tiny marks are hardest to control once surrounding material is removed.
Beginner-friendlyScarecrow Face Pumpkin Stencil
Two large round eyes with small eyebrow hooks above each, a pair of pointed teardrop nostrils, and a wide toothy grin with sharp downward-pointing fangs give this scarecrow face its slightly sinister character on this easy pumpkin stencil. All cut pieces are chunky and well-separated, making this a comfortable carve despite its spooky look. To keep the row of fang tips from chipping, make the two vertical cuts on each fang before the horizontal base cut that frees the piece.
