The Haunted House Moon pumpkin stencil is a free printable PDF template. Print it, tape the pattern on, and trace it onto your pumpkin. A tall haunted mansion with jagged roofline towers, arched windows, and a wide front door fills the center of a large circular moon cutout in this pumpkin stencil. Two bats flank the upper towers, and tufts of grass sprout at the base. The moon circle is the main open cut, while the house is retained as pumpkin wall, glowing orange against the dark void. Carve the rectangular window openings and the door arch before cutting the surrounding moon circle, so the house structure has support while you work the fine edge details. It makes a fun jack-o'-lantern design for Halloween night. It is rated Advanced. Actual time varies with preparation, pumpkin size and experience. Fine details and narrow supports need careful planning. Follow the cutting and shading key in this designβs PDF.

Frequently asked questions
Can I resize this stencil?βΎ
Yes. The PDF is vector so it scales cleanly. Print the pattern at 100% for a 7 to 10 inch pumpkin, 130% for 11 to 13 inch, or 150% for a giant. Use your printer's "Fit to page" or "Custom scale" setting.
What kind of paper works best?βΎ
Standard 20 lb letter or A4 printer paper is fine. Heavier paper is harder to bend around the pumpkin curve. If your printer supports it, set the quality to 'best' so the lines are crisp.
How long will the carved pumpkin last?βΎ
Usually 5 to 10 days. Coat all cut surfaces with petroleum jelly and store the pumpkin somewhere cool overnight. Avoid direct sun. Battery LED pumpkin lights produce no heat and help it last longer.
Can I sell pumpkins carved with this stencil?βΎ
Yes, the carved pumpkin you make is yours. The license covers personal and small-scale commercial carving (selling carved pumpkins, photographing them, posting on social). You may not resell the PDF file itself.
What if my printer doesn't print the whole stencil?βΎ
Set 'Page scaling' to 'Fit' in the print dialog and uncheck 'Auto-rotate'. If it still cuts off, the design includes 0.25" of safe-area margin so a small crop won't ruin it.
How to carve this stencil
- Transfer all lines, giving extra care to the roofline teeth and the arched door shape.
- Cut the window rectangles and the door arch inside the house first while the pumpkin is fully rigid.
- Carve the two bat shapes near the upper towers.
- Cut the grass tuft openings at the base of the house.
- Finally, cut the large moon circle that surrounds the whole scene, working in smooth curved strokes.
- Place an LED at the center bottom so light fills the moon cutout and the house reads as an orange silhouette.

AdvancedMidnight Flutter Pumpkin Stencil
A small bat with scalloped wings glides across a big crescent moon in a classic Halloween night scene. Both shapes are shaved rather than pierced: the moon is peeled into a bright smooth crescent, the bat's wings are etched at a lighter depth, and its body stays as raised rind. A hard shading pattern that rewards patience; keep the moon's inner curve clean since that long sweep frames the entire design.
AdvancedFlying Bats Pumpkin Stencil
Five bats in mid-flight are scattered across the pumpkin face in this hard pumpkin stencil, ranging from a large swooping bat in the upper left down to a small one at the lower right, each drawn with jagged, pointed wing edges and tiny body details. All five bats are cut through as separate open shapes, so candlelight spills through each one individually and the pumpkin reads as a night sky full of swooping shadows. Cut the smallest bottom-right bat first while the pumpkin surface is fully rigid, then work upward to the largest.
AdvancedHaunted Church Pumpkin Stencil
A tall, narrow gothic church building with a cross at its steeple peak forms this haunted-house pumpkin stencil. Flanking the spire are two dead trees rendered as diagonal stick shapes with crosshatch window-pane details, and a row of grass tufts sits at the base. The arched doorway and tall multi-pane windows are the primary cut-through openings, while the church walls, trees, and ground remain solid. Cut the small rectangular window panes in the trees first, then the main church windows, so the thin tree branches stay anchored while you work.
AdvancedThree Bats Pumpkin Stencil
Three snarling bats in different sizes swoop across this bats pumpkin stencil: one large bat dominates the lower center with wide jagged wings and a gnashing face, a medium bat flies mid-right, and a small bat trails upper-left, all fully pierced through. The graduated scale creates depth on the jack-o-lantern face, and because the large bat's wing tips are long and thin, cut those points last after the broad wing voids are already removed to avoid snapping them during the heavy cutting.
AdvancedHarvest Grin Pumpkin Stencil
A jack-o-lantern-within-a-pumpkin stencil showing a grinning carved pumpkin face at the center, surrounded by a flowing arrangement of autumn leaves, curling vines, and a flying bat perched near the stem above. The inner pumpkin face, triangular eyes, jagged mouth, and stem, stays solid orange while the vine-and-leaf background area around it is pierced through to glow. Carve the outer leaf and vine shapes before opening the inner face cuts, so the decorative frame is complete and stable before you work near the center detail.
IntermediateStarlit Flutter Pumpkin Stencil
A bold bat rises with scalloped wings spread wide while four small stars twinkle around it. The bat and every star are cut completely through the wall, turning the pumpkin into a glowing night-sky scene. The bat is one large connected opening, so it carves fast; poke a starter hole in the middle of the body and saw outward toward the wing scallops, finishing the little stars last.
