This free Toad pumpkin stencil is a printable PDF pattern you can print at home, tape to your pumpkin, and trace. A plump toad viewed in profile crouches on this hard Halloween pumpkin stencil, with a large circular eye, a wide body, and four splayed feet rendered as interlocking cut-out sections separated by curving skin bridges. The body reads as a mosaic of light and shadow when lit, with the large back void glowing brightly and the leg bridges casting graphic lines across the opening. Cut the round eye circle first, then work from the head backward through each body section toward the feet. Use it as a carving template for your Halloween jack-o'-lantern. It is rated Advanced. Actual time varies with preparation, pumpkin size and experience. Fine details and narrow supports need careful planning. Follow the cutting and shading key in this designβs PDF.

Frequently asked questions
Can I resize this stencil?βΎ
Yes. The PDF is vector so it scales cleanly. Print the pattern at 100% for a 7 to 10 inch pumpkin, 130% for 11 to 13 inch, or 150% for a giant. Use your printer's "Fit to page" or "Custom scale" setting.
What kind of paper works best?βΎ
Standard 20 lb letter or A4 printer paper is fine. Heavier paper is harder to bend around the pumpkin curve. If your printer supports it, set the quality to 'best' so the lines are crisp.
How long will the carved pumpkin last?βΎ
Usually 5 to 10 days. Coat all cut surfaces with petroleum jelly and store the pumpkin somewhere cool overnight. Avoid direct sun. Battery LED pumpkin lights produce no heat and help it last longer.
Can I sell pumpkins carved with this stencil?βΎ
Yes, the carved pumpkin you make is yours. The license covers personal and small-scale commercial carving (selling carved pumpkins, photographing them, posting on social). You may not resell the PDF file itself.
What if my printer doesn't print the whole stencil?βΎ
Set 'Page scaling' to 'Fit' in the print dialog and uncheck 'Auto-rotate'. If it still cuts off, the design includes 0.25" of safe-area margin so a small crop won't ruin it.
How to carve this stencil
- Transfer the full frog stencil and mark the circular eye, body bridges, and each foot section clearly.
- Cut the large round eye circle first to anchor the head region.
- Remove the head-throat section next, keeping the bridge that separates the head from the body intact.
- Work through the back and belly voids in sequence from front to back, leaving every bridge strip intact.
- Finish with the four foot sections, cutting each toe gap individually.
- A candle at mid-height behind the design reveals the bridge pattern as a glowing frog skeleton silhouette.

AdvancedPond Hopper Pumpkin Stencil
A plump spotted frog sits in profile, mid-crouch, with splayed toes, a bright round eye, and a back covered in shaved spots. The design is all surface work: you peel the skin inside the frog's body and markings, leaving orange skin for the outline, spots, and leg creases so the pale flesh reads as the animal. Work the tiny toes with a small V-gouge last, once the big body areas are cleared.
