How to carve a dog pumpkin stencil
A dog portrait is mostly ears, eyes, and nose. Cut the nose and eyes through, and leave the ears uncut with a scraped edge so they stand out from the head. For a tongue, cut the mouth open and leave the tongue attached at the back of the mouth. Fur texture is scraped, not cut.
Put the dog pumpkin beside the door where the real dog usually sits. If you have two dogs, carve two pumpkins facing each other.
Questions
Dog stencil questions
Can I find my dog's breed in the stencils?+
The collection covers common breed shapes like labs, spaniels, huskies, bulldogs, and terriers by ear and face shape. Pick the closest and adjust the ears with a marker before cutting.
How do I carve a dog's tongue?+
Cut the mouth as an opening and leave the tongue as an uncut tab hanging from the top of the mouth. Scrape it a little so it glows pinker than the face.
How long do dog pumpkin stencils take to carve?+
Check the individual stencil's carving guide for its time estimate. Preparation, pumpkin size, wall thickness and your experience affect the total; difficulty alone does not determine carving time.
