   Start with the toe bones, tail vertebrae, and the delicate jaw and skull details using a fine detail saw. Work each little shape as its own opening and let the rind bridges stay untouched between them. Cutting these fragile pieces while the wall is still full keeps everything supported. Go slowly, keep the saw upright, and clear each plug before moving on.

   Open the ribs and legs last

   Once the fine work is done, cut the larger rib slots, the spine segments, and the leg bones. Work the ribs one at a time, leaving the thin curved bridges between them so they stay crisp. Save the biggest belly and shoulder openings for the very end, since those remove the most material and weaken the wall. Ease each piece out gently instead of forcing it.

   Light it and take the photo

   Set a battery LED light or two inside, never a candle, and aim them so the glow spreads across the whole skeleton. If some bones look dim, shave a little rind from the back of that spot to brighten it. Set the pumpkin at eye level on a wall or step and shoot at dusk when the warm bones pop against the blue sky. A few yard skeletons nearby complete the scene.
