Download the Frankenstein pumpkin stencil as a free printable PDF, then tape the pattern to your pumpkin and trace the lines. This Frankenstein pumpkin stencil takes a bold, graphic approach: a wide flat-topped head with jagged spiked hair cut as a top border, a dense row of small stitch cuts across the forehead, thick angular brow and wide nose, a broad mouth showing individual teeth, and square neck-bolt tabs on both sides. The cut shapes are chunky and widely spaced, letting abundant light pour through the tooth row and eye slots when carved. Cut the tight stitch row across the forehead first, keeping each tiny rectangle separate, before opening the larger eye and mouth areas. It works as a carving template for a Halloween jack-o'-lantern or a fall porch display. It is rated Advanced. Actual time varies with preparation, pumpkin size and experience. Fine details and narrow supports need careful planning. Follow the cutting and shading key in this designβs PDF.

Frequently asked questions
Can I resize this stencil?βΎ
Yes. The PDF is vector so it scales cleanly. Print the pattern at 100% for a 7 to 10 inch pumpkin, 130% for 11 to 13 inch, or 150% for a giant. Use your printer's "Fit to page" or "Custom scale" setting.
What kind of paper works best?βΎ
Standard 20 lb letter or A4 printer paper is fine. Heavier paper is harder to bend around the pumpkin curve. If your printer supports it, set the quality to 'best' so the lines are crisp.
How long will the carved pumpkin last?βΎ
Usually 5 to 10 days. Coat all cut surfaces with petroleum jelly and store the pumpkin somewhere cool overnight. Avoid direct sun. Battery LED pumpkin lights produce no heat and help it last longer.
Can I sell pumpkins carved with this stencil?βΎ
Yes, the carved pumpkin you make is yours. The license covers personal and small-scale commercial carving (selling carved pumpkins, photographing them, posting on social). You may not resell the PDF file itself.
What if my printer doesn't print the whole stencil?βΎ
Set 'Page scaling' to 'Fit' in the print dialog and uncheck 'Auto-rotate'. If it still cuts off, the design includes 0.25" of safe-area margin so a small crop won't ruin it.
How to carve this stencil
- Tape the stencil to a flat, well-scraped pumpkin surface and transfer all outlines.
- Start with the horizontal stitch row across the forehead, use a narrow chisel blade and cut each slot individually.
- Cut the spiked hair along the top edge next, working from the center outward to each side.
- Open the angular eye slots, then the wide nose.
- Cut the toothed mouth in two passes: outer jaw border first, then each tooth gap.
- Finish with the neck-bolt tabs on each side. Use an LED candle so heat does not warp the thin forehead strip between the stitch row and the hair spikes.

AdvancedCartoon Frankenstein Pumpkin Stencil
A cartoon-style Frankenstein face makes up this pumpkin stencil, built from simple geometric pieces: a wide zigzag hairline across the top, two rectangular eye blocks each containing a cut-out square, circular ear studs on both sides, a broad grinning mouth open at the bottom, and two separate curved stitch marks, one on the forehead, one near the chin. The shapes are chunky and well-separated, so the candle light reads cleanly through each element. Carve the two small curved stitch shapes before the large mouth opening so the lower face stays anchored while you work.
AdvancedFrankenstein Face Pumpkin Stencil
A detailed Frankenstein portrait fills this jack-o-lantern pumpkin stencil: the creature's flat-topped head, spiky hair, bolt-and-stitch scar running diagonally across his forehead, heavy brow ridge, round glasses, and grimacing stitched mouth are all rendered as bold cut-through shapes. The thick outlines stay solid while the eyes, glasses lenses, and scar details pierce through, casting dramatic light patterns. Cut the small stitch details on the forehead first so the surrounding pumpkin wall stays firm while you work inward toward the larger facial openings.
Expert / ProVoltage Bride Portrait Pumpkin Stencil
A portrait-style bust of the Bride of Frankenstein dominates this expert-level Frankenstein pumpkin stencil, her wild electrified hair radiating outward in dozens of jagged flame-like spikes. Solid gray masses define the face and shoulders, while the surrounding tendrils are carved as individual pierced channels that let candlelight filter through in a scattered, dramatic halo. Many of the hair tips are freestanding islands connected by thin pumpkin bridges. Carve the facial features and solid facial mass last, after clearing all the surrounding hair spikes, to avoid distorting the face while your hands are still working near it.
AdvancedThe Stitched Stare Pumpkin Stencil
Two enormous wide eyes with hanging pupils stare beneath crackling zigzag brows, while small skull nostrils sit above a long stitched grin that stretches nearly ear to ear. The eyes are cut through around the drooping pupil tabs, the nostrils are pierced, and the mouth is one thin line crossed by vertical stitch slits. Those dangling pupils and skinny stitches make this a hard carve; keep every stitch cut short and support the pupil tabs while you saw around them.
AdvancedFang Snarl Pumpkin Stencil
Deeply wrinkled brows curl over narrowed eyes with rooted pupil tabs, a flared nose snarls in the middle, and a wide fanged grin full of jagged teeth completes this genuinely sinister face, flanked by small diamond cutouts at each temple. Everything is pierced through, and the layered brow wrinkles are why it rates hard. Cut the thin wrinkle slits with a fine-detail saw before the larger eye and mouth openings weaken the surrounding wall.
AdvancedThe Gritted Growler Pumpkin Stencil
Furrowed slash brows press down on angry eyes with squared pupil tabs, over a flat nose, cheek slits, and a wide clenched mouth divided into a grid of glowing tooth windows. Every window is pierced through, and the lattice of rind strips between them is the hard part. Cut the small mouth openings one at a time, alternating sides, so the grid never carries stress from a half finished row.
