Frankenstein Pumpkin Stencils

Frankenstein pumpkin stencils feature the stitched-together creature from Mary Shelley's 1818 novel: a flat-topped head, heavy brow, neck bolts, and scars across a hulking, scarred face that glows wonderfully on the porch.

How to carve a frankenstein pumpkin stencil

The flat head and neck bolts are wide simple shapes, so cut them with a saw. The stitches are the fiddly part; cut each as a short slit with a craft knife, crossing the scar line. Scrape the heavy brow so it shadows the eyes, and cut the eyes as narrow slits for a sleepy, lumbering look.

The creature and his bride make a natural pair on either side of the door. He also fits in any monster line-up with Dracula and the mummy.

Questions

Frankenstein stencil questions

Can I use Frankenstein's monster on a stencil without a licence?+

Yes. The creature comes from Mary Shelley's 1818 novel, which is public domain. These stencils are drawn from the book's description, not any studio's makeup design.

How many stitches should I cut?+

Fewer than the pattern suggests if the wall is thin. Six to eight short slits across the forehead and cheek read clearly; too many weakens the face.

How long do Frankenstein pumpkin stencils take to carve?+

Check the individual stencil's carving guide for its time estimate. Preparation, pumpkin size, wall thickness and your experience affect the total; difficulty alone does not determine carving time.

Which Frankenstein pumpkin stencils are the easiest?+

5 of the 6 are hard, 1 of the 6 are expert. Compare the difficulty labels and carving guides to choose a design.

Pick a frankenstein design, print it, and light up the porch.
