   Finish the jagged tail last

   Move east along your scored line into the notched upper border and out to the pointed tail. Cut the tiniest points last so the surrounding pumpkin still braces the wall while you work. If a point feels weak, leave a hair more material rather than forcing the saw. Gently push the whole state cutout inward or outward to release it in one clean piece.

   Light it and photograph

   Drop in a battery LED light, warm white or amber, to mimic that deep orange glow. Set the pumpkin at eye level on a table so the horizontal map reads clearly. Shoot in a dark room or at dusk with the LED as your only light for the strongest contrast. Rotate the pumpkin slightly until the jagged eastern edge catches the most light.
