   Save the wide rounded mouth for last because it is the largest opening and removes a lot of support. Saw the outline in short strokes and take out the center in one piece if you can. Smooth the inside edge so light spreads evenly across the opening.

   Light it and photograph

   Set the pumpkin over an LED light and check that both spirals, the nose, and the mouth glow at a similar brightness. If any eye looks dim, scrape the inside wall behind it a little thinner. Shoot your photo at dusk on a step or porch so the warm glow stands out against the darker background. Take the shot slightly below eye level to make the surprised face pop.
