The Skeleton Hands Heart pumpkin stencil is a free printable PDF template. Print it, tape the pattern on, and trace it onto your pumpkin. Two skeletal hands with knuckle-ridge cuts reach upward and inward to frame a heart shape in the negative space between them in this hard-level pumpkin stencil, each finger outlined by rows of small rectangular cut-outs that read as bone segments when lit. The spaces around and between the fingers are cut away so the glowing pumpkin shows the hands as a warm orange lattice of bone detail around the central heart void. Cut the small rectangular knuckle cuts across all fingers before removing the larger surrounding background so every finger stays rigid while you work the fine detail. It makes a fun jack-o'-lantern design for Halloween night. It is rated Advanced. Actual time varies with preparation, pumpkin size and experience. Fine details and narrow supports need careful planning. Follow the cutting and shading key in this designβs PDF.

Frequently asked questions
Can I resize this stencil?βΎ
Yes. The PDF is vector so it scales cleanly. Print the pattern at 100% for a 7 to 10 inch pumpkin, 130% for 11 to 13 inch, or 150% for a giant. Use your printer's "Fit to page" or "Custom scale" setting.
What kind of paper works best?βΎ
Standard 20 lb letter or A4 printer paper is fine. Heavier paper is harder to bend around the pumpkin curve. If your printer supports it, set the quality to 'best' so the lines are crisp.
How long will the carved pumpkin last?βΎ
Usually 5 to 10 days. Coat all cut surfaces with petroleum jelly and store the pumpkin somewhere cool overnight. Avoid direct sun. Battery LED pumpkin lights produce no heat and help it last longer.
Can I sell pumpkins carved with this stencil?βΎ
Yes, the carved pumpkin you make is yours. The license covers personal and small-scale commercial carving (selling carved pumpkins, photographing them, posting on social). You may not resell the PDF file itself.
What if my printer doesn't print the whole stencil?βΎ
Set 'Page scaling' to 'Fit' in the print dialog and uncheck 'Auto-rotate'. If it still cuts off, the design includes 0.25" of safe-area margin so a small crop won't ruin it.
How to carve this stencil
- Transfer the stencil and begin with the small rectangular knuckle-segment cuts across every finger, working row by row from the fingertips downward.
- Cut the heart-shaped negative space at the center where the two hands meet.
- Remove the background fill around the outer edges of both hands.
- Cut the spaces between individual fingers last, using a thin saw blade and steady inward strokes to avoid snapping the narrow finger bridges.
- Tap cut pieces out from inside to keep the knuckle details from being pushed and cracked.
- A candle placed toward the back of the pumpkin interior casts the skeleton-hand lattice as a warm shadow pattern around the glowing heart.

AdvancedThe Bone Warden Pumpkin Stencil
This menacing bony mask glares through huge slanted eye sockets, flares a split skeletal nose, and bares a wall of long vertical teeth framed by curved fangs at each corner, with angular temple slashes radiating from the sides. The sockets, nostrils, tooth gaps, and slash marks are all cut through, leaving thin ribs of skin as the teeth. Hard-level advice: carve the eight narrow tooth slits with a fine blade and leave the outer fangs until the very end.
AdvancedThe Stitched Stare Pumpkin Stencil
Two enormous wide eyes with hanging pupils stare beneath crackling zigzag brows, while small skull nostrils sit above a long stitched grin that stretches nearly ear to ear. The eyes are cut through around the drooping pupil tabs, the nostrils are pierced, and the mouth is one thin line crossed by vertical stitch slits. Those dangling pupils and skinny stitches make this a hard carve; keep every stitch cut short and support the pupil tabs while you saw around them.
AdvancedLove-Struck Emoji Pumpkin Stencil
The heart-eyes emoji comes to life with two big heart-shaped eyes, arched brows, and a wide toothy smile, all surrounded by seventeen small hearts and diamond accents scattered across the shell. Every heart, brow, tooth gap, and diamond is pierced through, so the whole pumpkin twinkles. Carve the large central face first while the shell is strongest, then work outward through the border hearts from biggest to smallest.
AdvancedStarry-Eyed Sweetie Pumpkin Stencil
Two huge sparkling anime-style eyes, each split by a vertical skin bar, beam above a tiny smile and heart-shaped cheeks, while dozens of little stars and dots twinkle across the whole pumpkin. The eyes, hearts, stars, and dots are all cut through, leaving the eye bars intact. The sheer number of small piercings makes this a hard carve; drill all the dots first, cut the stars with a fine detail saw, and save the big barred eyes for the very end.
AdvancedEntwined Hearts & Leafy Vines
Two interlocking hearts sit at the center of this romantic design, their looping outlines woven together and trailing off into curling vines and small leaves at each corner. The whole motif is shaved into the skin as pale relief lines, so the pumpkin wall stays intact and the pattern shows clearly by daylight or candlelight. Follow the vine curves in long continuous strokes to keep the linework flowing and even.
AdvancedSweetheart Silhouettes Pumpkin Stencil
A large heart is cut out of the pumpkin, but two facing profiles are left standing in the middle of the opening, so a couple appears to lean toward each other in silhouette against the glow. The heart interior is removed while the joined profile column stays attached at the bottom point. This is a hard carve because those noses, lips, and chins are thin; use a fresh fine blade and cut away from the profiles, never into them.
