Bat Pumpkin Stencils
Bat pumpkin stencils range from a single simple wing silhouette to a swarm crossing a full moon. Few inner cuts make most bat designs quick to finish, and the pointed wings read instantly from the sidewalk.

How to carve a bat pumpkin stencil
A bat is one silhouette: cut around the body in short strokes and finish the wing scallops and ear tips with a craft knife. On a bat-and-moon design, cut the moon as one large opening and leave the bat as an uncut shape inside it, attached to the moon's edge at the wingtips.
Bat pumpkins are the easiest way to scale a display: carve three or four small ones and dot them along the walk like a flock. They pair with haunted-house and moon designs.
Questions
Bat stencil questions
What is the quickest bat pumpkin stencil?+
The single bat silhouette. It is one opening with a few wing points and takes 20 to 30 minutes, which makes it a favourite for kids.
How do I carve a bat in front of a moon?+
Cut the moon through as a large circle but leave the bat shape uncut inside it. The bat must touch the moon's edge at the wingtips so it stays attached.
How long do bat pumpkin stencils take to carve?+
Check the individual stencil's carving guide for its time estimate. Preparation, pumpkin size, wall thickness and your experience affect the total; difficulty alone does not determine carving time.
Which bat pumpkin stencils are the easiest?+
9 of the 16 are easy, 2 of the 16 are intermediate, 5 of the 16 are hard. Compare the difficulty labels and carving guides to choose a design.
