How to carve a demon pumpkin stencil
Cut the slit eyes and nostrils first, then the mouth with the teeth left as uncut points. The horns are usually solid pumpkin with a scraped edge, so they stand out dark against a glowing background. Flames around the face are cut through with tapering tips finished by a knife.
A demon pumpkin lit red in a dark corner is genuinely unsettling. Keep it away from the front door if very young trick-or-treaters visit.
Questions
Demon stencil questions
How do I carve demon horns?+
Leave them uncut and cut the background around them so they show as dark curved shapes against the glow. Scrape a line along each horn for a ridged look.
What light works best for a demon stencil?+
A red LED, or a white LED behind red cellophane. The red glow through the eyes and mouth is what makes the face look demonic.
How long do demon pumpkin stencils take to carve?+
Check the individual stencil's carving guide for its time estimate. Preparation, pumpkin size, wall thickness and your experience affect the total; difficulty alone does not determine carving time.
Which demon pumpkin stencils are the easiest?+
2 of the 8 are easy, 2 of the 8 are intermediate, 2 of the 8 are hard, 2 of the 8 are expert. Compare the difficulty labels and carving guides to choose a design.
