   Save the biggest openings, the triangular tractor beam and the oval landing zone, for the end when everything else is finished. Cut the beam as one wide shaft and clear the oval beneath it, leaving the narrow rind lines that define the beam edges. Because these are large, cut in sections and remove them carefully so the surrounding shell does not flex. If a bridge feels weak, leave a touch more rind rather than risk a break.

   Light it and photograph

   Drop a bright LED puck or a battery tea light cluster inside and set the pumpkin over it through your back or bottom opening. A strong, cool-white LED makes the wide beam blaze and the port lights sparkle. Shoot photos in a dim room so the glow reads clearly against the dark rind bridges. Mist the cut edges with water and refrigerate overnight to keep it fresh for display.
