   Add the flowing strands in the hair and the seam between body and tail by carving thin lines a bit deeper than the peeled skin. These grooves will glow brighter and add motion. Leave narrow ridges of peeled flesh between strands so nothing tears or connects into one blob. Step back often to check the shapes still read from a few feet away.

   Light it and photograph

   Set a battery LED puck inside and aim a second small light toward the peeled areas if you want an even wash. Because so much of this design is shading rather than open cuts, it truly shines in daylight, so photograph it on a kitchen table near a window. Wipe the peeled surface with a little vegetable oil to slow browning. Refrigerate the pumpkin overnight to keep the pale flesh fresh.
