Weary Open-Mouth Emoji Pumpkin

From pumpkin to porch

1. 1

Prep the pumpkin and pick your light

Since this is an AI concept, no real pumpkin exists, but a design like it carves cleanly on a large round pumpkin. Cut a lid or a bottom access hole, then scoop the inside until the front wall is about one inch thick. A thinner wall makes the eye crescents and thin brow arcs much easier to cut. Set a battery LED inside to check brightness, and skip real candles near the thin cutouts.

2. 2

   Transfer the emoji pattern

Center the round face on the flattest part of the pumpkin and tape a home-printed stencil in place. Poke the outline with a pin or awl, marking the face ring, both brow arcs, the droopy eye crescents, and the rectangular mouth with its tooth gaps. Dot the edges closely on the curves so the shapes stay smooth. Peel the paper and connect any faint dots with a washable marker.

3. 3

Cut the eye crescents and face ring

Start with the small stuff. Cut the two droopy eye crescents fully through with a fine saw, working in short controlled strokes. Then cut the enclosed face ring, the glowing halo that outlines the whole face. Cut this ring in sections and leave the top and bottom connectors intact so the inner face disc stays supported.

4. 4

Shape the brow arcs so they stay dark

The brows are not holes, they are narrow raised shapes left inside the glowing area. To make each brow read as a dark line, cut a thin sliver channel above and below the arc so light passes around it but not through it. Work each brow in one smooth stroke from end to end for a clean curve. Keep both ends attached to the surrounding skin so the arc does not fall out.

5. 5

Carve tooth gaps before the mouth opening

On the open mouth, cut the small tooth gaps first while the surrounding skin is still solid. Those thin gaps rely on the mouth border to hold the tooth bridges firm. Once every gap is cut, remove the large mouth opening around them so the teeth stay anchored top and bottom. Cut this biggest opening last to keep the wall rigid the whole time.

6. 6

   Clean up and light it

Trim any rough edges with a paring knife and gently smooth the inside cut lines so light spreads evenly. Wipe the face with a damp cloth and dry it. Drop in an LED puck and view it in a dark room to confirm the brows stay dark and the eyes and mouth glow. Take your photo at dusk for that warm porch-light effect.
