Shark Pumpkin Stencils
Shark pumpkin stencils show open jaws, dorsal fins cutting through the water, and rows of teeth that look great glowing on a dark porch. A simple fin above a wave is one of the fastest designs in the library.

How to carve a shark pumpkin stencil
For the open-jaw design, cut the mouth as one large opening and leave the teeth as uncut triangles hanging from both jaws. The eye is a small round cut. For the fin-and-wave design, cut the wave as a long wavy opening and leave the fin as a solid triangle rising from it, attached at the base.
Shark pumpkins are a hit at beach-town Halloweens and pool parties. Set one on a blue tablecloth or beside the pool for the full effect.
Questions
Shark stencil questions
How do I carve the rows of shark teeth?+
Cut the whole mouth open first, then leave short triangles uncut along the top and bottom edges. Two staggered rows look more realistic than one, but keep every tooth a quarter inch wide at the base.
What is the easiest shark stencil?+
The dorsal fin above a wave. It is two cuts, takes about 20 minutes, and everyone recognises it instantly.
How long do shark pumpkin stencils take to carve?+
Check the individual stencil's carving guide for its time estimate. Preparation, pumpkin size, wall thickness and your experience affect the total; difficulty alone does not determine carving time.
