How to carve a sports pumpkin stencil
Most sports designs are a ball with its seams. Cut the ball as one large opening and leave the seams as uncut strips crossing it, attached at both ends. Equipment like bats, sticks, and goalposts are thin uncut strips against cut-through backgrounds; cut on alternating sides of each strip.
Sports pumpkins are perfect for a tailgate or a game-day porch. Carve one for each team and set them facing off.
Questions
Sports stencil questions
Do the sports stencils include team logos?+
No. The designs are generic balls and equipment with no league or team marks, so they are free to carve and legal to share.
How do I carve ball seams?+
Cut the ball as one round opening but leave the seam lines as uncut strips crossing it, each attached to the edge at both ends. Scrape the stitches along a football or baseball seam.
How long do sports pumpkin stencils take to carve?+
Check the individual stencil's carving guide for its time estimate. Preparation, pumpkin size, wall thickness and your experience affect the total; difficulty alone does not determine carving time.
Which sports pumpkin stencils are the easiest?+
8 of the 32 are easy, 10 of the 32 are intermediate, 12 of the 32 are hard, 2 of the 32 are expert. Compare the difficulty labels and carving guides to choose a design.
