This free Alien pumpkin stencil is a printable PDF pattern you can print at home, tape to your pumpkin, and trace. An extraterrestrial figure with an oversized oval head, large almond-shaped eyes, delicate facial features, and a lean torso covered in fine ribbed line-work fills this expert-level pumpkin stencil. The alien holds up one three-fingered hand in a peace sign, and the entire upper head is decorated with small curved slash marks suggesting brain-like texture. Each fine interior line across the torso and head must be cut precisely to retain the many thin bridges that keep the design from collapsing. Cut the small curved head-texture marks first before any large area is removed, as they rely on a full wall for support. Use it as a carving template for your Halloween jack-o'-lantern. It is rated Expert / Pro. Actual time varies with preparation, pumpkin size and experience. Intricate details and fragile supports need patience. Technique depends on the design; follow its PDF rather than assuming multiple depth layers.

Frequently asked questions
Can I resize this stencil?βΎ
Yes. The PDF is vector so it scales cleanly. Print the pattern at 100% for a 7 to 10 inch pumpkin, 130% for 11 to 13 inch, or 150% for a giant. Use your printer's "Fit to page" or "Custom scale" setting.
What kind of paper works best?βΎ
Standard 20 lb letter or A4 printer paper is fine. Heavier paper is harder to bend around the pumpkin curve. If your printer supports it, set the quality to 'best' so the lines are crisp.
How long will the carved pumpkin last?βΎ
Usually 5 to 10 days. Coat all cut surfaces with petroleum jelly and store the pumpkin somewhere cool overnight. Avoid direct sun. Battery LED pumpkin lights produce no heat and help it last longer.
Can I sell pumpkins carved with this stencil?βΎ
Yes, the carved pumpkin you make is yours. The license covers personal and small-scale commercial carving (selling carved pumpkins, photographing them, posting on social). You may not resell the PDF file itself.
What if my printer doesn't print the whole stencil?βΎ
Set 'Page scaling' to 'Fit' in the print dialog and uncheck 'Auto-rotate'. If it still cuts off, the design includes 0.25" of safe-area margin so a small crop won't ruin it.
How to carve this stencil
- Use a freshly sharpened detail blade and thin the pumpkin wall to about half an inch before transferring.
- Begin with the small curved slash marks across the top of the alien's cranium, these are the most isolated details and are easiest to cut while everything is still solid.
- Cut the almond eye outlines next, preserving the inner-eye highlight islands.
- Work down through the facial features: nose slits, mouth line, chin.
- Cut the ribbed torso lines in order from top to bottom, leaving bridges between each rib intact.
- Finish with the peace-sign hand and the large open background areas around the figure; removing background last prevents the figure from flexing during detail work.

Expert / ProCarnival Trickster Pumpkin Stencil
A mischievous jester face topped with an arcing crown of small diamond cutouts, tall eyes with long slit pupils, diamond accents on each cheek, and a huge grin lined with pointed triangle teeth. Every diamond, eye, and tooth gap is pierced through, so the whole face sparkles like carnival lights. As an expert pattern full of tiny repeated shapes, cut all the small diamonds first with a narrow saw before opening the large mouth, which weakens the wall.
Expert / ProThe Hypnotist Pumpkin Stencil
Two enormous hypnotic eyes built as spoked wheels, each iris divided by radial spokes around a glowing hub, ringed by halos of small diamond and teardrop cutouts with arched brow fans above. Every spoke gap, diamond, and teardrop is pierced individually, creating a mesmerizing lace of light. An expert carve with dozens of tiny openings; use a fine detail saw and rotate the pumpkin, not your wrist, on the curves.
Expert / ProThe Big Gasp Pumpkin Stencil
An ornamental surprised face: two big eyes striped with vertical bars sit beneath fanned brow lines, above a tall oval gasping mouth ringed by a halo of teardrop cutouts. Every bar, fan line, teardrop, and the central oval is pierced through, and the sheer number of narrow slits is what makes this an expert carve. Cut all the fine slits before the big oval, working outward from the center, so the wall keeps its strength as long as possible.
Expert / ProThe Sob Story Pumpkin Stencil
A theatrically miserable face with layered droopy brow wrinkles stacked like ribs above two barred, half-lidded eyes, a long drooping nose, and a deep striped frown, all surrounded by cascading columns of teardrops. Every wrinkle, bar, and tear is cut through, creating an ornate pattern of dozens of small openings. This expert carve is all about sequence: work from the center outward and leave the fragile tear columns at the edges for last.
Expert / ProThe Wonky Wonder Pumpkin Stencil
A wonderfully odd face with two unequal eyes split by vertical bar pupils, a diamond nose, and a huge grin whose lower edge scallops into rounded lobes, all surrounded by constellations of freckle dots and hanging teardrop points. Everything is cut through, from the big mouth down to dozens of tiny drilled holes. This expert design is a marathon of small cuts; drill all the freckle dots first, then carve the scalloped grin so the thin borders between lobes keep support.
Expert / ProDeep Sea Dancer Pumpkin Stencil
A tilted jellyfish drifts with its domed bell up high and dozens of ribbony tentacles flowing down through strands of seaweed, while small bubbles rise around it. Every element is shaved into the skin at varying depths rather than cut through, creating layers of soft glow. This expert etch is all about depth control: shave the bell and bubbles deepest for brightness, keep the tentacles mid-depth, and leave the seaweed shallow so the jellyfish floats forward.
