Download the Animal Skeleton pumpkin stencil as a free printable PDF, then tape the pattern to your pumpkin and trace the lines. An expert-level animal skeleton pumpkin stencil showing a four-legged creature in profile, likely a large cat or prehistoric predator, with every bone individually rendered: elongated ribcage with many parallel curved ribs, shoulder and hip joints, individual leg bones, and a detailed skull with open jaws. The composition fills the entire pumpkin face diagonally with dozens of separate cut-through bone shapes. Because the ribs are thin parallel strips, cut them from the spine outward rather than across, and leave the connecting spine strip uncut to hold them all in line. It works as a carving template for a Halloween jack-o'-lantern or a fall porch display. It is rated Expert / Pro. Actual time varies with preparation, pumpkin size and experience. Intricate details and fragile supports need patience. Technique depends on the design; follow its PDF rather than assuming multiple depth layers.

Frequently asked questions
Can I resize this stencil?βΎ
Yes. The PDF is vector so it scales cleanly. Print the pattern at 100% for a 7 to 10 inch pumpkin, 130% for 11 to 13 inch, or 150% for a giant. Use your printer's "Fit to page" or "Custom scale" setting.
What kind of paper works best?βΎ
Standard 20 lb letter or A4 printer paper is fine. Heavier paper is harder to bend around the pumpkin curve. If your printer supports it, set the quality to 'best' so the lines are crisp.
How long will the carved pumpkin last?βΎ
Usually 5 to 10 days. Coat all cut surfaces with petroleum jelly and store the pumpkin somewhere cool overnight. Avoid direct sun. Battery LED pumpkin lights produce no heat and help it last longer.
Can I sell pumpkins carved with this stencil?βΎ
Yes, the carved pumpkin you make is yours. The license covers personal and small-scale commercial carving (selling carved pumpkins, photographing them, posting on social). You may not resell the PDF file itself.
What if my printer doesn't print the whole stencil?βΎ
Set 'Page scaling' to 'Fit' in the print dialog and uncheck 'Auto-rotate'. If it still cuts off, the design includes 0.25" of safe-area margin so a small crop won't ruin it.
How to carve this stencil
- Transfer the stencil carefully; press every dot through the paper before removing it, as this design has 40-plus separate cut zones.
- Begin with the large open hip and shoulder areas, the biggest sections on the design, to reduce wall tension first.
- Work through the ribcage from the top rib downward, cutting each rib individually from the spine edge outward to the rib tip.
- Do not cut the spine strip itself, it holds all the rib pieces in alignment.
- Carve the skull last: open the jaw gap, then the eye socket, then the small nasal opening, using a detail blade for the tight curves.
- Use a very bright LED inside so the dense parallel rib pattern reads clearly from a distance.

Expert / ProFull Skeleton Pumpkin Stencil
A full standing human skeleton fills this pumpkin stencil from skull to toe bones, its ribcage, pelvis, limb segments, and finger and toe joints all rendered as distinct cut-out sections separated by thin solid bridges. When lit, every bone grouping glows individually against the orange pumpkin wall. Cut the ribcage slots from the center outward to avoid destabilizing the spine bridge that holds the upper torso together.
AdvancedThe Bone Warden Pumpkin Stencil
This menacing bony mask glares through huge slanted eye sockets, flares a split skeletal nose, and bares a wall of long vertical teeth framed by curved fangs at each corner, with angular temple slashes radiating from the sides. The sockets, nostrils, tooth gaps, and slash marks are all cut through, leaving thin ribs of skin as the teeth. Hard-level advice: carve the eight narrow tooth slits with a fine blade and leave the outer fangs until the very end.
AdvancedThe Stitched Stare Pumpkin Stencil
Two enormous wide eyes with hanging pupils stare beneath crackling zigzag brows, while small skull nostrils sit above a long stitched grin that stretches nearly ear to ear. The eyes are cut through around the drooping pupil tabs, the nostrils are pierced, and the mouth is one thin line crossed by vertical stitch slits. Those dangling pupils and skinny stitches make this a hard carve; keep every stitch cut short and support the pupil tabs while you saw around them.
Expert / ProThe Filigree Cyclops Pumpkin Stencil
An ornate one-eyed monster dominated by a giant spoke-wheel eye with six radiating spokes, surrounded by swirling filigree flourishes, teardrop cutouts, and a vast fanged grin ringed with diamond and dot accents. The entire composition is pierced through in an intricate lattice, leaving a delicate web of pumpkin between the glowing shapes. Strictly an expert project: use a fine-detail saw, carve the small accents before the large wheel and mouth, and support the wall from inside as it thins.
Expert / ProThe Hypnotist Pumpkin Stencil
Two enormous hypnotic eyes built as spoked wheels, each iris divided by radial spokes around a glowing hub, ringed by halos of small diamond and teardrop cutouts with arched brow fans above. Every spoke gap, diamond, and teardrop is pierced individually, creating a mesmerizing lace of light. An expert carve with dozens of tiny openings; use a fine detail saw and rotate the pumpkin, not your wrist, on the curves.
Expert / ProMandala Smiler Pumpkin Stencil
A mischievous crescent-eyed grin packed with individual teeth sits inside a full ring of diamond and leaf-shaped cutouts, with dozens of small dots sparkling between them. Every element is pierced through, and the sheer number of tiny openings is what earns the expert rating. Drill all the dots first, then saw the border shapes, saving the big fragile mouth for the very end.
