The Witch Cauldron pumpkin stencil is a free printable PDF template. Print it, tape the pattern on, and trace it onto your pumpkin. A witch's cauldron viewed straight on forms this easy witch pumpkin stencil, with three bubble circles floating above the pot, a wide rectangular opening for the cauldron mouth, a thick rim strip, and two claw-footed legs flanking a centered spout at the base. All the shapes are cut through as separate open pieces, glowing independently when lit to suggest a bubbling brew. Cut the three small bubble circles near the top of the design first, since they sit in isolation and are easiest to control before the larger cuts below loosen the wall. It makes a fun jack-o'-lantern design for Halloween night. It is rated Beginner-friendly. Estimated time: 45-60 minutes. Actual time varies with preparation, pumpkin size and experience. Larger shapes and shorter cuts. An adult should handle sharp carving tools.

Frequently asked questions
Can I resize this stencil?βΎ
Yes. The PDF is vector so it scales cleanly. Print the pattern at 100% for a 7 to 10 inch pumpkin, 130% for 11 to 13 inch, or 150% for a giant. Use your printer's "Fit to page" or "Custom scale" setting.
What kind of paper works best?βΎ
Standard 20 lb letter or A4 printer paper is fine. Heavier paper is harder to bend around the pumpkin curve. If your printer supports it, set the quality to 'best' so the lines are crisp.
How long will the carved pumpkin last?βΎ
Usually 5 to 10 days. Coat all cut surfaces with petroleum jelly and store the pumpkin somewhere cool overnight. Avoid direct sun. Battery LED pumpkin lights produce no heat and help it last longer.
Can I sell pumpkins carved with this stencil?βΎ
Yes, the carved pumpkin you make is yours. The license covers personal and small-scale commercial carving (selling carved pumpkins, photographing them, posting on social). You may not resell the PDF file itself.
What if my printer doesn't print the whole stencil?βΎ
Set 'Page scaling' to 'Fit' in the print dialog and uncheck 'Auto-rotate'. If it still cuts off, the design includes 0.25" of safe-area margin so a small crop won't ruin it.
How to carve this stencil
This is a cut-through stencil: the gray areas on the printable pattern are the pieces you remove, and everything white stays attached. The steps below give you the safest carving order. Plan on about 45-60 minutes from print to candle.
Set up first. Print the PDF at 100% scale on letter or A4 paper. Cut the lid at an angle, scoop the pumpkin clean, and thin the carving wall to about 1 inch where the design will sit. Tape the pattern on (snip small darts in the paper so it hugs the curve) and transfer every outline by poking dots along the lines, about one every 1/8 inch. Peel the paper away and carve dot to dot with short, straight strokes.
Carving order
- Cut the rising bubbles. Start with the three small bubbles floating above the pot. Each has a white crescent highlight cut into it; saw around the hook carefully so the highlight stays attached to the shell.
- Carve the cauldron rim. Cut the long rim bar, working around the round white notch on its underside. Keep the white gap between the rim and the pot body intact.
- Cut the legs and base. Carve the two curved legs at the sides, then the wide base piece with its center stand at the bottom. The legs kick outward into small feet, so make relief cuts into their inner corners.
- Release the cauldron body last. The big rounded belly is the largest plug. Cut around it, steering past the white notch at its upper right, and leave a small tab on one side. Support the plug with your palm, cut the tab, and ease the piece into the pumpkin.
Clear loose fibers out of each opening as you go, and never twist or pry the blade against the shell; back it out and recut instead. When every piece is out, wipe the cut edges dry and drop in a battery LED puck.

Beginner-friendlyBubbling Brew Pumpkin Stencil
A round-bellied witch's cauldron with side handles and little legs, carved as one big glowing cutout, while three round bubble holes rise above the rim like escaping brew. Everything cuts fully through, so the pot blazes and the bubbles float as bright dots. One of the easiest spooky designs going; punch the three bubbles first, then saw the cauldron body in sections, leaving the handle nubs attached to the main opening.

Beginner-friendlyThe Crooked Witch Hat Pumpkin Stencil
A classic witch hat fills the pumpkin face, its tall crown bending over at the tip above a broad, gently curved brim. The whole hat is removed as one pierced piece, making a big bright silhouette with no interior details to fuss over. As an easy single-cut design, just keep your blade angled slightly inward as you saw so the large panel pulls free without wedging.
AdvancedWitch's Brew Pumpkin Stencil
A bubbling witch's cauldron sends three curling plumes of steam up the pumpkin's face, all rendered in carved shading rather than pierced holes. You shave the skin to different depths so the pot, bubbles, and smoke glow in layered tones while the wall stays fully intact. Work the steam swirls shallow and the cauldron mouth deepest to get that lit-from-within brew effect.
Beginner-friendlyWitch Hat Pumpkin Stencil
This witch-hat pumpkin stencil reduces the classic Halloween icon to its boldest shapes: a wide, wavy brim in two swooping cut-out bands, a trapezoidal crown, and a tight spiral curl at the hat's tip. The large open areas mean the design reads clearly even on a small pumpkin, and the lit result is a silhouette-style hat floating against glowing orange. Cut the lower brim band first, then the upper brim, and finally the crown, so the spiral finial stays supported until the end.
