   Have an adult cut a lid or a base opening, then scoop out the seeds and pulp. Scrape the inside of the front wall until it is about one inch thick so the saw glides through cleanly. A thinner, even wall makes those narrow channels much easier to control. Set the pumpkin at a comfortable height on a stable surface before you start cutting.

   Cut one edge of each channel first

   Work one glowing channel at a time. Cut along a single marked line for the full length of a stroke, then stop and reposition the saw to make the parallel cut rather than trying to free-hand the width. This keeps the dark ridge between the two channels a consistent thickness. Take your time on the curved part of the C, using short, gentle saw strokes and letting the blade do the work.

   Free the small pieces gently

   Once both edges of a channel are cut, push the waste piece out carefully from the inside. Support the narrow dark ridges with a finger while you pop out neighboring pieces so they do not snap. Save the tightest curves and the short vertical bars for after the longer straight sections are done. If a ridge feels fragile, leave a tiny uncut bridge to hold it in place.

   Clean and true the lines

   Go back over every channel with the saw or a small detail blade to square the edges and remove ragged bits. Even, sharp edges are what make an outlined design look crisp when lit. Check that the two channels in each stroke are the same width and that the central ridges are straight. Wipe away marker lines with a damp cloth.

   Light it and photograph

   Drop a battery LED light inside and set it in a dark room to check the glow. The paired channels should read as a bright double outline with a dark line running down the center of each stroke. If any area looks dim, thin the inside wall behind it a little more. Photograph it at dusk against a plain background so the symbol stands out.
