Pick and prep the pumpkin
Choose a tall, round pumpkin with a smooth, blemish-free front panel big enough for the full seal shape. Since you are only skinning the surface and not gutting for a light this time, you can leave it whole, or cut a small back lid and clean the inside if you want to add an LED later. Wipe the front dry so your stencil sticks. Work on a stable table with good overhead light.
Transfer the seal outline
Tape a seal pup stencil onto the front, centered so the raised head sits near the upper right and the tail flipper sweeps to the lower left.
