   Light it and photograph

   Set the pumpkin over one or two bright battery LEDs, warm white for that fire-orange center. Skip real candles, since the tall openings and thin strips heat and dry out fast. Take your photo at dusk on a porch step so the glow reads against the darker background. A light coat of petroleum jelly on the cut edges slows browning if you want it to last a few extra days.
