   Carve the segmented arm and leg lines, leaving tiny skin bridges at the elbows, knees, and finger joints so the limbs stay connected and strong. Cut the raised knee and the outstretched hands last, since these are the widest openings and weaken the wall most. Ease each piece out gently rather than forcing it. If a bridge feels fragile, keep it a little wider.

   Clean up and light it

   Trim any ragged edges with a small loop tool and round the inside of the eyes and mouth so the light spreads evenly. Wipe crumbs from the cuts. Drop in a battery LED light, never a candle, and check that the ribs and joints all glow clearly. Add a second LED inside if the lower legs look dim.

   Stage and photograph

   Set the finished pumpkin at eye level on a step or low wall so the dancing pose reads at its best angle. Coat the cut edges with a little petroleum jelly to slow drying. Shoot at dusk when the sky still holds color and the interior glow stands out. A slightly low camera angle makes the little skeleton look like it is mid-dance.
