   Clean the edges and consider peeling for depth

   Trim any ragged edges so the sky openings read as clean shapes. For a softer glow at the branch tips, scrape a thin layer of skin off small areas without cutting all the way through. This gives a dim halo that makes the black branches pop even more. Wipe away loose bits and rub a little petroleum jelly on cut edges to slow drying.

   Set a battery LED puck or string inside and place the pumpkin on a front porch step at dusk. Use a warm white or amber LED for that cozy glow, never a candle near the thin cutouts.
