Vary your depth so nearer branches look brighter and distant ones stay dimmer.

   Save the sharp grass tufts and any full cutouts for last, once the surrounding detail is stable. Cut the spiky blades along the bottom at an angle so they throw crisp bright light. Work slowly with a small saw blade and support the pumpkin wall with your free hand. Cutting these openings last keeps the face rigid while you do the delicate shading.

   Light it and photograph the scene

   Drop in one or two bright LED lights, warm white or orange, and avoid open candles near the thin walls. Set the pumpkin on a deck rail or table at dusk so the full graveyard scene can breathe. Rub a little petroleum jelly on cut edges to slow drying and keep the details sharp. Snap your photo in low light to capture the glowing sky behind the dark stone.
