How far off-center should the nose be?

A shift of about 1.5 to 2 cm from the true center is enough to register visually without looking like a placement error. Position it toward the side where the mouth curves upward most, so the nose, the smirk, and the eye squint all lean in the same direction.

The upper-rooted pupil keeps pulling away from the rim when I remove rind around it. What should I do?

Work with a very sharp thin blade and take off material in thin layers rather than trying to remove the full depth in one pass. Always cut away from the pupil root, not toward it. If the pupil flexes more than a millimeter after the eye is complete, reinforce it from inside with a strip of tape.

Do the scar diamonds need to be clustered anywhere specific?

Grouping four or five diamonds near one cheek and scattering the rest more broadly gives the impression of a concentrated old scar. Avoid placing any diamond within 10 mm of an eye, mouth, or eyebrow slot edge, or the shared wall between them will be too thin.
