Save these small openings for last, since cutting them early weakens the surrounding wall. Clean up any ragged edges with the tip of your knife.

   Light it and photograph

   Drop in a battery LED puck, warm white looks best against orange, and set it low inside so the shaded glass glows evenly. Turn off the room lights and check for thin or dark spots, shaving a little more skin where needed. Place the pumpkin on a bar cart or party table at eye level. Snap your photo slightly off to one side to show off the depth of the etched lines.
