The fish tails have a forked shape with a concave notch between the tail lobes. How do I cut the notch cleanly?

Score the inside of the forked notch with a detail knife before sawing the tail lobe edges. Approach the notch from each lobe direction, cutting inward and meeting at the deepest point of the notch.
