The whole face lives in the mouth here, where a double row of pointed fangs meets top and bottom to form a snarl. The trick is leaving thin triangles of shell in place as teeth while cutting away everything around them, so plan each fang before you open the big void. Slanted triangular eyes and angry brows finish the look with very little extra work.

Choose a large, evenly round pumpkin with a smooth front so the wide mouth has room to spread. Cut a lid from the top or a hatch from the back at an angle so the plug does not fall in. Scoop the guts and thin the carving wall on the front to about one inch. A thinner wall makes it much easier to slice clean fang points.
Sketch or tape on a stencil with the two angled eyes, a pair of small nose slits, and the wide jagged mouth. Mark each tooth as a triangle first, both the top row pointing down and the bottom row pointing up. Poke holes along all the lines with a pin or awl so the design survives even if the paper tears. Step back and check the mouth is symmetric before any blade goes in.
Start with the small, low-risk cuts while the pumpkin is still solid and strong. Cut the two slanted triangular eyes and the sharp brow points above them for that angry look. Keep the tiny nose slits narrow so they read as shadows. Doing these first means the shell is still rigid when you tackle the mouth.
Work the mouth last since it is the biggest opening. Cut the gaps between the teeth one at a time, leaving each fang as an attached triangle of shell rooted to the top or bottom edge. Do not try to free a tooth on all sides or it will snap, keep its base connected to the pumpkin. Cut slowly with a small serrated saw and push the waste pieces out toward you.
Use a lino tool or the edge of a spoon to skin a shallow layer around the mouth and along the cheeks. Removing just the orange skin lets a dim glow bleed through and makes the fangs pop forward. Keep these peeled areas thin so they stay structurally sound. This shading is what gives the snarl its menace.
Drop in a bright LED puck or a couple of battery tea lights, never a real flame near these thin teeth. Set the pumpkin in a curved frame like an old tire or a wreath to echo the round face. Photograph it after dark with the porch lights off so the fangs read as bright spikes. A slightly low camera angle makes the grin loom.

Never cut a tooth free on every side. Leave the base of each fang attached to the top or bottom rim of the mouth so it acts like a rooted triangle. A one inch wall and a sharp small saw also help you slice cleanly without prying and cracking a point.
Carve the eyes and brows first while the pumpkin is still solid and strong. The wide fanged mouth removes a lot of material and weakens the shell, so it should always be your last big cut. Working small to large keeps everything rigid as long as possible.
Use a bright battery LED puck or a few tea lights, not a real candle, since the thin fangs sit close to the flame path. A cool white or warm LED both work, just aim for enough brightness to make the tooth gaps glow. Place the light low and slightly back so the fangs cast forward shadows.
