How to carve an emoji pumpkin stencil
Emoji faces are perfectly symmetrical circles and curves. Use a round pumpkin, centre the pattern carefully, and cut the eyes first and the mouth last. For heart eyes and tears, cut the shape through the wall; for the blush or the tongue, scrape the skin so it glows a shade darker.
A row of emoji pumpkins along the step, each a different face, is a crowd favourite. They also make a fun classroom or office display.

Which emoji stencils are the easiest?+
The basic smiley and the winking face are the simplest, at two eyes and one mouth. Heart eyes and the crying-laughing face add a few more cuts but stay Easy.
How do I make the emoji look yellow?+
Use a yellow LED inside, or wrap a white LED in yellow cellophane. A pale or white pumpkin shows the yellow glow more strongly than an orange one.
How long do emoji pumpkin stencils take to carve?+
Check the individual stencil's carving guide for its time estimate. Preparation, pumpkin size, wall thickness and your experience affect the total; difficulty alone does not determine carving time.
