   Light it and photograph

   Drop in one or two battery LED lights, warm white or orange, and skip real candles so the thin areas do not scorch. Set the pumpkin on a stone ledge or step for that haunted walkway feel and shoot at dusk when the sky is deep blue. Coat fresh cut edges with a little petroleum jelly to slow drying and keep the grin crisp. Rotate the lights until the eyes and teeth blaze while the nose stays in shadow.
