Prep and save the guts

Have an adult cut a lid or a back door and hollow the pumpkin, thinning the carving wall to about one inch so light passes through the shaved areas. Etch the gnarled branch with shallow gouges to show bark texture, keeping it darker than the moon so it stays grounded. Open the raven's beak with a clean line and shave the inside slightly so it looks hollow. Do not cut a large hole here; a thin shaved patch keeps the head structurally strong. This sets up the seed cascade in the next step.

Scrape the seed cascade

Below the open beak, scrape a stream of small, overlapping oval dents that flow down toward the pumpkin base, peeling each one just deep enough to glow softly. Vary their angle so the spill looks loose and falling rather than lined up. Keep these shallow so the wall stays solid and no big openings weaken the front. Light it and pile the seeds
