   After cutting the first four stars, pause and confirm the remaining four positions still have adequate rind between them. If the pumpkin surface has any soft spots, widen the minimum gap to 20 mm for the remaining stars.

   Light and enjoy

   Insert an LED flameless candle with a flickering mode for a lively effect. Eight star-shaped light sources will project distinct pointed shadows on nearby walls and doors. A flameless candle is safer than a real one when a pumpkin has no conventional top vent.
