Raccoon pumpkin decorating tips
Plan the outline and colors before decorating so the finished design reads clearly on a curved pumpkin.
Choose a clear shape
Start with a large face, silhouette, or symbol that fits the smoothest side of your pumpkin. Sketch the arrangement on paper first, then lightly transfer the main shapes. Keep small details away from deep ribs.
Build the design in layers
Clean and dry the surface before adding paint or decorations. Let each painted layer dry before adding the next. Broad color areas are easier to control than tiny lines; save finishing details for last.
Check it in its display spot
Step back and check whether the design is readable in the light where you plan to display it. Surface-painted details need light from outside the pumpkin, so choose a well-lit spot rather than relying on an internal glow.
