- Scrape the letters instead of cutting them. Peel the skin off inside each letter so it glows orange, and cut through only a thin outline around each one. Nothing falls out, and the counters of the B and O never need bridges.
- How do I keep the middle of the B and O from falling out?
- Leave a bridge, a thin strip of pumpkin connecting the counter to the outer edge of the letter, usually at the top. Or use stencil-style letters that already have gaps built in. Scraped letters avoid the problem entirely.
- How big should the letters be?
- Big. Fill at least two thirds of the pumpkin's width, and make the strokes at least an inch wide so they glow strongly. Small lettering is hard to read from the street once it is dark.
- How do I add a ghost to a BOO pumpkin?
