Fall Pumpkin Stencils

Three Spotted Mushrooms pumpkin stencil
Intermediate

Three Spotted Mushrooms

Three spotted toadstools rise from a tuft of grass, one tall cap flanked by two smaller mushrooms. This is a shading pattern: you shave away the skin around the stems and caps so they glow softly, while the round spots are scraped a touch deeper for contrast. Nothing is pierced through, which keeps the pumpkin sturdy. Work in shallow layers and stop when light just starts to show through the wall.

Moon & Stars Over Hills pumpkin stencil
Intermediate

Moon & Stars Over Hills

A crescent moon hangs over a band of rolling hills while four small stars dot the sky above. Nothing is pierced: you shave away only the skin inside the moon, stars, and hill line, leaving a thin wall that glows soft amber when lit. Keep your shaving depth even, about a quarter inch, so the moon and hills light up at the same brightness across the whole scene.

Dusk Wing pumpkin stencil
Intermediate

Dusk Wing Pumpkin Stencil

A wide-winged bat hangs in the center of a glowing scalloped panel, its scalloped wing edges and small round eyes standing out in dark relief. You shave the skin away around the bat so the shape stays raw pumpkin while the shaved field lights up behind it. Keep your shading depth even across the whole panel so the backlight glows uniformly around those wing scallops.

Five Petal Flower pumpkin stencil
Intermediate

Five Petal Flower

A five petal flower with slender veins radiating from a round center fills the front of the pumpkin. Nothing is pierced; you shave away only the skin inside each petal and the center disc so the flesh glows softly while the wall stays solid. Use a loop tool and keep the shaving depth even across all five petals so the whole bloom lights at the same brightness.

Simple Daisy Flower pumpkin stencil
Easy

Simple Daisy Flower

A cheerful five-petal daisy with a round center, sized to fill the front of a medium pumpkin. Nothing is pierced through: you shave the skin off each petal and the center circle so they glow softly while the outlines stay as untouched rind. Because this is an easy shading design, scrape each petal to an even depth of about half the wall thickness so all five light up with the same warm tone.

Simple Glowing Cross pumpkin stencil
Easy

Simple Glowing Cross

A tall Christian cross glows from the center of the pumpkin, with slightly tapered arms that give the shape a hand-hewn, rustic feel. The entire cross is cut through, so candlelight pours out in one bold symbol while the rest of the shell stays untouched. Since this is an easy single-opening design, take the vertical beam in two long, steady strokes and the crossbar last to keep every edge crisp.

Walking Bear Silhouette pumpkin stencil
Intermediate

Walking Bear Silhouette

A bear strides across the pumpkin in full profile, head lowered slightly and all four legs mid-step. This is a shading pattern with no pierced holes: you shave the skin away inside the bear so the lighter flesh forms the whole animal in warm relief. Work from the spine outward in long strokes, and shave a touch deeper around the legs and muzzle so the outline stays well defined.

Grimacing Scarecrow pumpkin stencil
Hard

Grimacing Scarecrow Pumpkin Stencil

A simple, cartoonish scarecrow stands with arms outstretched on this hard pumpkin stencil, wearing a wide-brimmed hat and showing a squiggly grimace for a mouth. The body and hat are solid pumpkin flesh while gaps between the outstretched arms, the ragged tunic slashes, and the stick post below are all cut through. The thin neck post connecting the head to the body is the most fragile element; complete all arm and tunic cuts before touching the area around that connector to keep the head from separating prematurely.

Scarecrow Face pumpkin stencil
Easy

Scarecrow Face Pumpkin Stencil

Two large round eyes with small eyebrow hooks above each, a pair of pointed teardrop nostrils, and a wide toothy grin with sharp downward-pointing fangs give this scarecrow face its slightly sinister character on this easy pumpkin stencil. All cut pieces are chunky and well-separated, making this a comfortable carve despite its spooky look. To keep the row of fang tips from chipping, make the two vertical cuts on each fang before the horizontal base cut that frees the piece.

Cornucopia pumpkin stencil
Hard

Cornucopia Pumpkin Stencil

A harvest cornucopia brimming with a small pumpkin, an apple, and assorted gourds fills this pumpkin stencil, with decorative swirling vines and leaf shapes radiating outward from the basket's opening. The woven horn body is built from curved concentric stripe cutouts, while the produce and vine scrolls are independent pierced-through elements against the solid surrounding wall. Cut the small vine scroll tips and round fruit openings before tackling the long curved stripe cuts in the horn body, as the stripe cuts pass close to each other and benefit from the surrounding wall being intact.

Two Mushrooms pumpkin stencil
Easy

Two Mushrooms Pumpkin Stencil

Two mushrooms fill this easy pumpkin stencil: a large one with a wide rounded cap dotted by three circular spots and two curved gill lines beneath, and a smaller companion mushroom to its right with a dome cap and two dots. Both stems and root tendrils are cut through as open shapes against solid pumpkin wall, giving the lit jack-o-lantern a clean, whimsical forest-floor silhouette. Leave the solid ridgeline that separates the large cap from the gill area intact as a natural bridge, cutting it would cause the gill shapes to fall free.

Kawaii Acorn pumpkin stencil
Hard

Kawaii Acorn Pumpkin Stencil

A kawaii-style acorn character fills the stencil: the domed cap is covered in a dense diamond lattice of cut-out shapes, while the rounded body below carries two crescent-shaped eyes, a small curved smile, and delicate arm curves along each side. Lit from within, the hatched cap glows like a lantern screen and the face reads warmly against the solid body. Carve the lattice diamonds from the center of the cap outward, and avoid cutting the thin grid lines between them until all surrounding diamonds are removed.

Two Maple Leaves pumpkin stencil
Easy

Two Maple Leaves Pumpkin Stencil

Two maple leaves are shown on the same stencil sheet, stacked vertically: the upper leaf faces right with its stem pointing up, the lower leaf faces left with its stem trailing down. Both are cut as single solid silhouettes with the pointed maple-lobe edges forming the outline. Lit from inside, the two glowing leaf shapes overlap slightly at center, giving the pumpkin a layered, scattered-leaves feel. Carve the upper leaf first and fully remove it before starting the lower leaf so the two openings don't inadvertently merge along their closest edges.

Scarecrow pumpkin stencil
Hard

Scarecrow Pumpkin Stencil

A friendly scarecrow stands arms-out in classic T-pose: a brimmed hat with a small torn-corner flap, a round face with X eyes and a stitched-line smile, a necktie, straw tufts poking from the sleeves and hem, and a central post below the body. The design uses a mix of open cuts for the background spaces and solid orange bridges that form the straw strands, clothing triangles, and facial features. When lit, the scarecrow appears as a warm silhouette with the straw tufts back-lit individually. Cut the small X-eye shapes and the stitched smile first, as these tiny marks are hardest to control once surrounding material is removed.

Maple Leaf pumpkin stencil
Easy

Maple Leaf Pumpkin Stencil

A single large maple leaf fills most of the stencil, tilted slightly to the right with its stem curving down and left. The leaf has seven pointed lobes with gently serrated edges and a central vein ridge left solid, creating a two-section open cut on each side of the midrib. Lit from inside, the two halves of the leaf glow symmetrically while the narrow central vein remains as an unlit orange line. Keeping that vein bridge intact is the key structural challenge: cut the left lobe section completely before moving to the right so you're never cutting beside an already-open neighbor.
