Raccoon pumpkin carving tips
Use the gallery to compare outlines and details, then adapt your chosen design to the size and shape of your pumpkin.
Choose a comfortable difficulty
This gallery includes 1 intermediate, 1 hard, 2 expert ideas. Compare the width of the remaining pumpkin between cuts, not just the number of openings. Choose a layout with larger shapes if this is your first attempt, and simplify details that look fragile.
Keep the recognizable outline
Look for the ears, tail, wings, or stance that identifies the animal. Keep these shapes clear and widen narrow legs or whiskers. Fur and feather texture can be scraped into the skin instead of cut through.
Check the design with a light
Use “Bandit the Peeking Raccoon” as a visual reference, then compare how the main shapes stand out in other examples. Gallery images are inspiration, not necessarily tested cutting patterns. Check your own pumpkin with an LED light as you work, and simplify any details that disappear at a distance.
